Abstract

The article focuses on Gramsci’s prison notes included in Notebook 21 and dedicated to the connection between popular literature and the emancipation of subaltern social classes. Through an analysis of the argumentative passages, the article attempts to read the process of Gramsci’s reflection, showing how the sociological and critical consideration of popular literature is linked to the need to understand the different social stratifications of the subaltern classes.
