Abstract

Type, Custom, and Habit. A Comparison between Henry James and William James The relationship between Henry and William James has fascinated the majority of readers and scholars. Although differentiated by different attitudes towards life and society, the two brothers seem to share most of their theoretical views. In this essay, I will try to analyse the influence of William James’ philosophy on Henry James’ literary works, by relying on the concepts of type, custom, and habit.
